چکیده

Introduction: Dynamic Contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) consists of a series of rapid T1-weighted imaging (seconds per scan; tens of scans) performed before, during, and after the administration of an intravenous contrast agent that reduces the T1 value of blood and thereby enhances the signal intensity. It has become a useful tool to study the perfusion, permeability and angiogenesis property in tumor tissues [1-2]. While the value of DCE-MRI has been reported for many tumor types [3-5], its role in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), one of the leading cancer types in East Asia, has not been well established. It was reported that the staging of NPC patients has been shown to be critical for treatment and prognosis [6,7]. In this project we aimed to study the relationship between contrast enhancement parameters in dynamic DCEMRI and the diagnosing staging of NPC, and the correlation between parameters from DCE-MRI and PET-CT scanning.

[Role of 18F-FDG PET/CT in diagnosis and staging of nasopharyngeal carcinoma].

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE Because (18)F-FDG PET/CT can display cancer lesion morphology, size and the relatinship of the cancer lesion to adjacent tissues, it is used in the diagnosis and classification of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). This study was to explore the application value of (18)F-FDG PET/CT in TNM staging by comparing the performance of MRI and PET/CT together with pathological resul...

FDG-avid portal vein tumor thrombosis from hepatocellular carcinoma in contrast-enhanced FDG PET/CT

Objective(s): In this study, we aimed to describe the characteristics of portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT), complicating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in contrast-enhanced FDG PET/CT scan. Methods: In this retrospective study, 9 HCC patients with FDG-avid PVTT were diagnosed by contrast-enhanced fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG PET/CT), which is a comb...

Automatic Prostate Cancer Segmentation Using Kinetic Analysis in Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MRI

Background: Dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) provides functional information on the microcirculation in tissues by analyzing the enhancement kinetics which can be used as biomarkers for prostate lesions detection and characterization. Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate spatiotemporal patterns of tumors by extracting semi-quantitative as well as w...

18F-FDG PET/CT of advanced gastric carcinoma and association of HER2 expression with standardized uptake value

Objective(s): Expression of HER2 in gastric carcinoma has direct prognostic and therapeutic implications in patient management. The aim of this study is to determine whether a relationship exists between standardized uptake value (SUV) and expression of HER2 in advanced gastric carcinoma. Methods: We analyzed the 18F-FDG PET/CT results of 109 patients that underwent gastrectomy for advanced gas...

A Prospective Study Comparing Functional Imaging (18F-FDG PET) Versus Anatomical Imaging (Contrast Enhanced CT) in Dosimetric Planning for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer.

Objective(s): 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET-CT) is a well-used and established technique for lung cancer staging. Radiation therapy requires accurate target volume delineation, which is difficult in most cases due to coexisting atelectasis. The present study was performed to compare the 18F-FDG PET-CT with contrast enhanced computed tomogr...
